Adult Webmaster's Guide to Good Health
I know that most of you looked at the title of this article and were a little puzzled. I mean, what does good health have to do with the online porn industry? The two certainly do not seem to go hand in hand. However, once you read this article you will start to see that there is in fact a correlation between adult webmasters and good health: a negative one. Adult webmasters have to be one of the unhealthiest groups of people going. Did you take a look around you at the latest industry convention? Did you happen to notice that there is an alarming number of webmasters who are overweight? The last time that I attended an industry function, I was utterly shocked by what I witnessed. Most of the webmasters there were not only overweight, but many were smokers and heavy drinkers as well. I have seen how webmasters in this industry treat their health and bodies and it is frightening. Even though I may be wasting my time, I would like to give adult webmasters a few pointers on how to stay in shape, prevent back injury, and decrease the risk of a heart attack by the time theyre thirty-five.

Now, tell me if this sounds familiar. You wake up in the morning (ok around noon) and have a cigarette and a big breakfast. After your meal you settle down at your computer with some supplies (chips, cokes, chocolate bars, cigarettes) and proceed to sit on a chair staring at a screen for nine hours straight where your only breaks are to go the bathroom and answer the door for the pizza guy. Later on you may break to take care of some monotonous duties like taking out garbage or watching your favorite TV program, and then you settle back down in front of your computer again until three in the morning. Now, while this scenario may be a little bit of an exaggeration, there is some truth to it. Webmasters have a job that requires them to sit still for hours on end and often they are too busy to cook healthy meals, so hence the junk and fast food. However, there are ways to stay healthy while at the same time spending hours and hours tied to a computer. I have put together a list of pointers that should help even the busiest webmasters improve their health.

1. Get Some Moderate Exercise. If you are sitting at a computer all day, then you are definitely not burning off more calories than you are eating. You probably do not have time to join a gym, but there are other quicker forms of exercise. Take little breaks throughout the day and go for a brisk walk or jog around your neighborhood. This will not only improve your physical health, but your mental health as well, as it is a good way to clear your mind of stress.

2. Ditch the Four C’s. The four C’s that I am referring to are chips, cokes, chocolate bars and cigarettes. These are staples of a Webmaster diet but they are also proven to pack on the pounds and destroy health. Just by replacing the coke with water, the chips with veggie sticks or pretzels, and the chocolate bars with fruit, you can cut out a big chunk of calories from your daily intake. The water is especially important. Just by drinking eight to ten glasses a day, you can clear your body out of harmful toxins and contribute to weight loss. I would never suggest that a Webmaster give up their precious smoking habit, but why not try to cut down. Say, for every three that you usually have, smoke one instead. 

3. Stretch. When you are pretty stationary in a chair all day long in front of a computer, you have an increased risk of developing back problems and other ailments such as carpal tunnel syndrome. I am very familiar with the back problems as I developed one due to the amount of time I spent in a chair all day. When I went to the chiropractor about it, he told me that I could have prevented it, just by getting out of my chair every fifteen minutes or so and having a little stretch. So, this is what I am recommending for webmasters. Every fifteen minutes to half-hour, get out of your chair and walk around the house a bit and stretch out your limbs. Be sure to stretch out your wrists as well so they do not become cramped from using the keyboard and mouse all day. 

4. Take Vitamins. Most webmasters take their health for granted and abuse their bodies by indulging in fatty foods, large amounts of alcohol, cigarettes, and other health damaging items. Your body can turn into a wastebasket for harmful products. Give your body a break by feeding it something to improve your health instead of harming it. Just by taking a daily multivitamin, you can help to fight off all sorts of diseases and ailments. 

Just by following one or more (hopefully all four) suggestions, you can dramatically improve your physical condition, while also preventing future health problems. All of these tips promote better health, but at the same time they are perfect for a busy person as they are not as time consuming as going to a gym or joining a diet program. Give them a try and I am confident that you will see some positive results!
