Getting Your Blogs RSS Listed In Yahoo

Here is a little trick to help you get some free traffic to your blogs from Yahoo. First you need to locate your blog’s rss feed. Typically this is in the rss directory off the root so if your blog is www.myblog.com your rss will be www.myblog.com/rss. Once you have found your rss feeds you then go to www.yahoo.com and click the link at the top of the page that offers you the option of customizing a my.yahoo.com landing page. You will have to sign up with yahoo for this, but it is free. Once you have an account you can log in to your custom landing page at my.yahoo.com. Here you can add all kinds of news and blog feeds that you want to keep up on. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see an “add content” link. Click that link and you are taken to a page that lets you add new stuff to you page. At the top of this page you will see a search box. Next to the find button at the end of that box you will see a link that says “add rss by url.” This takes you to a page where you can enter in the url of your blog’s rss feeds. You enter in your blog’s rss url then hit the add button and it will take you to a page that shows you what it found. Check to make sure it is your site and everything is correct then hit the “add to my yahoo” button. This adds your blog feeds to your launch page. Yahoo will then see these feeds being listed on your launch page and will crawl them so that it can update your launch page. If you have good, keyword rich posts, it may also start indexing various posts. One of my blogs has around 350 posts in it and 234 of them have been indexed by Yahoo. While this technique may hot bring you massive traffic, if each post only gets you a few hits a day they can add up really fast. It’s fast, easy and free and anything to get more search engine traffic is good.
