05/26/2004: Internet Freedom Association Launches New Web Site

CYBERSPACE – The Internet Freedom Association (IFA) announced today the official launch of its new Web site at http://www.i-freedom.org. The new site offers visitors links to news stories about important industry related topics, with an emphasis on Internet-related Free Speech issues. In addition to these important news updates, the new IFA site provides visitors with the opportunity to share comments on news stories, vote in opinion polls, locate free legal information, and find out more about the IFA itself.

“The goal for this new site is to give concerned Webmasters and adult Web site fans one central place where they can stay informed about online Free Speech developments,” explains Connor Young, a member of the IFA’s Board of Directors. “The site is an absolutely free service that is provided by the IFA and its volunteers for the benefit of the online adult community. We would like to encourage Webmasters and other interested parties to bookmark this site and visit it often. With the recent indecency crackdown and the Justice Department’s ongoing war on pornography, it is more important than ever to stay informed of online Free Speech developments, and we think this new Web site will provide a place where Webmasters can make that happen.” Attorney General John Ashcroft announced recently that the Justice Department intended to file multiple criminal indictments against adult webmasters, across the country, based on federal obscenity laws.

The IFA is an adult industry trade group dedicated to protecting the rights of adults to display and receive erotic, adult or controversial material online. The non-profit organization was formed in July of 2002 by a broad contingent of leaders in the adult Web site community, and is under the legal guidance of First Amendment attorney Lawrence G. ADULT WEBSITE TRADE GROUP ANNOUNCES FIRST MEETING - LAUNCHS WEBSITE

The Internet Freedom Association, today launched its website, www.i-freedom.org, and began accepting memberships. The group will hold its first organizational meeting on August 10, 2002, in Hollywood, Florida, at the Internext Convention, at which over 5000 adult webmasters are expected to attend.

The IFA was formed last month by a broad contingent of leaders in the adult website community, under the direction and leadership of Lawrence Walters, Esq., a First Amendment Attorney and partner with Weston Garrou & DeWitt. We look forward to gaining substantial membership and representing the interests of the adult Internet industry through this new trade group, said Walters. The IFA is dedicated to protecting the rights of adults to display and view adult materials online, according to its Website. The fear of prosecution by the federal government under obscenity laws will likely result in a wave of membership applications, Walters added, referring to the recent Memorandum signed by Attorney General John Ashcroft, promising to initiate prosecutions against online obscenity.
